Today, I’d like to elaborate on something we all have to put up with at one time or another. Sooner or later we have to make that trip to the doctor’s office or to the hospital. When we do, we will at that time take part in the humility of relying on someone else to make the right decisions about what we need to survive.
It’s a real shame we’re not all doctors, then we could treat ourselves. We wouldn’t have to go through all the embarrassing conversations, physical examinations and don’t even get me started on all the time we spend waiting.
They know it takes longer than 10-15 minutes per person, so why do they schedule us so close together? Herding us in and out like cattle. Is it the money? Sure it has to be all about the money because not all doctors schedule that close together. Doctors that really care about their patients, don’t herd people in and out. Oh sure they apologize that you had to wait so long, but what happens the next time you go, you wait and wait nothing changes does it? Doctors make us feel like only their time is important, and ours isn’t.
God forbid you get sick on golf day. You know what’s going to happen then? You won’t be seeing dear ‘ol doc, no it’s going to be the nurse, nurse practitioner or the poor bastard that’s on call.
Now before I go any further, Lets take a minute to give some credit where credit is due. First off we must realize they are just like us, Human. They put their pants on the same way we do, one leg at a time. Not all doctors are the way we described here, some actually care about their patients, some still have feelings. Some still return phone calls instead of their nurses, a few will still make house calls. Doctors use to make house calls all the time but those are days gone by. When we find Doctors that are great, they are either a specialist and they cure us then we never see them again or they get a better offer and move away. At least we were blessed for awhile.
We must realize that not all doctors were A students. They didn’t all graduate at the top of their class or even in the top 25. Some were C students barely making it by the seat of their pants. While Some are called to be great, the ones that are called usually have a gift. While others are wannabes. I’ve had a few that were extremely smart and very caring, however they were few and far between.
Bedside manner isn’t important to me if the doctor is good and knows what he’s doing. I have realized over the years that most doctors that are smart and know what they’re doing usually don’t have much of a bed side manner. It’s the ones that have a great bedside manner and use it while telling you, well I’m just not sure yet – are the ones you’d better watch out for. It’s as if you can’t get both it’s either one or the other, Great or funny you decide what’s best for you.
Well I still have a long ways to go on this subject and story, so this is where we will stop. Stay tuned for the rest of the story in part II.
Can ya dig it?

You hit the nail right on the head, a good doctor is hard to find! Most doctors do not know what their doing, I don't think they paid to much attention in their classes.
Doctors are the biggest scam around! All they wanna do is cut you open and take your money, great post!
LOL. You're right about the bedside manner thing, if the Doctor is really good, then who cares about his/her beside manner!?
Where's the next installment Terrie? You're killing me! LOL
First of all, I love the Stooges picture you used! LMAO! Secondly, you're so right when it comes to this topic, you obviously share the pain of millions of people in this country who are suffering with incompetent doctors and *gasp* nurse practitioners! Great article and can't wait for the next piece!
It will be posted today, and I am sorry. I had an unexpected surgery, but I'm better now.How fitting for this story .LOL
